This book puts the thrill in thriller! I appreciate the chance to enjoy a new author who really knows how to write and capture the reader's attention!.
This is a real and raw story of the risks and rewards of undercover work.
You'll be amazed by the courage and dedication of the cops who lived it.
I got this book for free and this is my honest opinion.
The narrator has a clear voice and really brings this story to life.
Heard about this operation on Changing Lives, I was too young in 1976 to have noticed this at the time. The book is very well written and an excellent account of what happened behind the scenes.
I was saddened that the author and Eric didn’t get a formal recognition for what they did, as I felt that they seriously put their lives at risk and lost so much in the end.
Looking forward to starting the Steve Regan books.
I found this book to be an exceptional read.
The characters and storyline were great with lots of action. Highly recommended.
Steve Regan an undercover British cop who is investigating drug smuggling involving a cartel stretching from Bolivia to Miami.
I was reading late into the night as I couldn’t put the book down.
More please Stephen
Duplicity tells the intriguing tale of undercover detective Steve Reagan, assigned with his partner, Red, to the investigation of a vicious drugs cartel in the USA. When Red severely injures his arm in an innocent gardening accident, Steve agrees to go it alone and flies to the States where he begins his covert infiltration of the cartel with backup provided by American undercover agent Joe Maggio.
Intelligence has already revealed the British connection to the case via a beautiful but crooked barrister, Caroline Sewell, and a well-placed British customs agent, Bill Morris.
As the story progresses, all the fear, uncertainty land tension that goes with the life of an undercover cop is communicated in the way only a real-life former officer could convey it.
Without including any spoilers, I can say that this is a terrific read, with enough action to satisfy any reader and with some real surprises towards the end of the book. I can wholeheartedly recommend it and it's easily worth a full-blooded 5 star rating from me.
Once started, you will read to the end. A brilliantly contrived story bringing two great people together. Matt has a daughter with brain damage from a gang rape. He has a lush for a wife and a very unpleasant father in law.
Matt is forced to leave the U S A and join the police force in a post Brexit Britain. Not before putting a witness, Wolfie, in charge of his gym. Not to spoil anything but the action keeps coming and 7 years later, Matt is back in America and Wolfie is by his side. Time for revenge!!
I really enjoyed this novel and need to get to the second in the series, as and when. Definitely more please.
In my opinion, this is Stephen Bentley's best novel yet. The writing is smooth, conveying information on several levels without becoming pedantic. Many times while reading this book, I lost myself and felt like I'd become part of the story, a feeling that I've only experienced a few times in my life, and one that only a great writer can elicit. Very highly recommended!
